Inspiring Reading

There are numerous personal and professional experiences over the past 50 years that have motivated the creation of our Collection. Some may ask why we called it “Children’s Design” instead of “Children’s Art”? One of the reasons has to do with the notion of intention. This most interesting article by Dr. Heather Malin is an excellent read for understanding what motivated us in the first place: Making Meaningful: Intention in Children’s Art Making

L’arte dei bambini

This is the first known published in depth study of children’s art. It was first written in Italian by Corrado Ricci (1858-1934) and has been published in various languages for over 120 years and counting.

A copy published in 1887 found a home at Toronto’s Robarts Library and can be viewed as an open library edition on Archive.org

The word is out

We are grateful to Brenden and the whole team at the Little Free Library for letting us drop some of our bookmarks in the tiny homes. The word is out and if you would like to help us distribute them across North America, please let us know.

We didn’t do it alone

Our many thanks go to Jerry Rivard (www.rivardit.com ). Jerry has been an awesome web development coach to us. He has his costumers’ needs and autonomy always in check. Our website may not have the fancy glittery plugins many surfers have come to expect, but in keeping it simple, we keep it efficient and maintenance smart. All done on a volunteer basis (with a little help from our friend), so far.

Welcome to our blog

For this first blog post, our many thanks go to the founders of CDIC-CIDE. Léo, Liliane, Alain and Andrée did a great job in developing and adopting several key policies in record time over the past few months. Please take the time to visit the policy page and learn more about where we are going with this wonderful organization.
